Limited funds available for eligible households to receive a one-time emergency rental or utility assistance.
SHFA will issue rent or utility assistance payments directly to the landlord or utility company. Once your application is approved and SHFA has received all necessary Landlord Forms, SHFA will issue payment via check within 3 business days. Program recipients are encouraged to contact the property owner or property manager once they are notified that their application is approved; this may help encourage landlords to return necessary forms in a timely manner. Payment cannot be issued without the landlord verification form and all other supporting documentations.

Past Due - SHFA can only pay a verified one-month (or 30-day period) billed portion.
Current Bill - Payment cannot be made more than 10 calendar days prior to the utility bill due date.
If approved, SHFA will contact the service provider listed on the Release Of Information form to verify outstanding balance before SHFA can issue any payment.

- Landlord letter or rent verification form (dated and signed by landlord)
If approved, SHFA will contact the property owner or property manager listed on the Release of Information form to collect the (i) Landlord Verification Form (ii) Landlord W-9 form.
Past due rent -
Current rent - Payment cannot be made more than 10 calendar days prior rent due.
